About CAP

Mission:

Empower each player to take charge of their own mental game by teaching the player how:

  • To define and develop a belief system for the game in a way that allows the player to get in the right mindset at the right time (on cue) for the given circumstance.

  • To take the thinking out of the event and put it where it belongs - before and after the event.
  • To "think" in pictures to help the player stay relaxed and increase the chances of getting into the zone.

 Rick Harig - CAP

Rick has been coaching baseball for 25 years.  He has been on the field for 22 of those years and in Player Development for 3 years.  The CAP has been developed from real baseball situations and people.  There are a lot of good books out that tell you that good players have confidence, can focus at the task at hand, or use visualization.  Rick has developed a program that teaches the player HOW to aquire these skills!

"The great thing about coach Harig is that he helped me on and off the field.  He has instilled in me the ability and the importance to stay relaxed and focus on the pitch at hand.  His approach to the mental side of baseball has been a great help to my career!" - Jesse Crain, Minnesota Twins

"Rick has gotten through to me.  I can call and talk to him about anything.  He's really helped me make the adjustments on and off the field.  When I'm going bad, he's been able to help me make the adjustments." - From the San Diego Union-Tribune, June 7, 2005:  Matt Bush, 1st pick in the 2004 draft, San Diego Padres.

"Rick Harig and the CAP made such a difference in our players and our team's confidence and mental approach last season at Nebraska, that it was an easy decision to bring Rick in to visit with our players.  Rick and the CAP empowers our players and our team in dealing with not only failures, but also successes on and off the field.  Rick has made a huge difference in our program" - Rob Childress, Head Coach, Texas A&M University. (Note: Rob was the former pitching coach at the University of Nebraska)
